Tamil Nadu or formerly known as madras state is a beautiful Indian state which has 8 world heritage sites.The state is bounded by Eastern Ghat mountain ranges on north.On west it is bounded by Nilgiri Mountains and Meghamalai hills, on east by Bay of Bengal and on the south by Indian Ocean.The state is home to numerous historic buildings, pilgrimage sites and hill stations.Here is our 1st tour plan of this beautiful Indian state.In this tour we will cover Chennai, Kanchipuram, Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry. We will start our tour from the capital city of Tamil Nadu Chennai.

  • Day-1 On day-1 reach Chennai either by train or air from any part of the country.In the evening you may roam around the local market and taste the local cuisine.


  • Day-2 On day -2, go for city sightseeing tour in Chennai.Madras or Chennai is an attractive tourist destination.From ages, the city attracted tourists from all over the world who came to this city to experience its rich culture, history and architecture.A full day Chennai city sightseeing tour is of 9-10 hours duration.A local cab will charge around Rs 3500 to Rs 4000 for this trip.A well maintained site by the Archaeological Survey of India, the Fort is divided as St.Mary’s Church and Fort Museum.The beautiful Fort Museum showcases the remnants of the British ruling period.For Indian tourist the entry fee to the fort is Rs5 and for foreign tourists the fee is Rs 100 per person. Kapaleeshwar Temple This auspicious temple enshrines Lord Kapaleeshwar,a manifestation of Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati as Karpagambal. Timings of the temple is from 5Am to 12PM and from 5PM to 9PM Saint Thomas Church It is an important pilgrimage site as it is one of the three churches in the world built over the tomb of an apostle of Jesus.Timings are from 6AM to 8PM Parthasarathy Temple This beautiful temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna in his manifestation as Lord Parthasarathy. Timings are from 6AM to 8PM. The temple is closed on holidays and sunday. Valluvar Kottam The Valluvar Kottam is a significant monument built by the chief minister of the state, Mr. M Karunanidhi in the honour of the famous saint and poet Thiruvalluvar.Entry Fee is Rs. 5/- per person for adults and Rs. 2/- per child Vadapalani Murugan Temple Vadapalani Murugan Temple is one of the mostfrequented places of worship for Hindus in Chennai.The temple is known for helping devotees finding solutions to lifes problems.Timings are from 5:00 AM - 12:00 PM & 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM Marina Beach Situated in the Chennai city in Tamil Nadu,Marina Beach is a natural urban beach along the Bay of Bengal.The beach is 13 kilometres long making it the longest natural urban beach in the country and second largest of its kind in the world.It is the most crowded beach in India with almost 30,000 visitors a day.


  • Day-3 On day 3 first go to visit Kanchipuram and from there go to Mamallapuram. A local cab will charge around Rs 3700 for this whole day tour .Kanchipuram is nearly 73 Km away from Chennai and it will take almost 2 and half hours to reach Kanchipuram from Chennai.Upon reaching Kanchipuram first visit Kamakshi Amman Temple Kamakshi Amman Temple represents is a gem from the past.Set in the city of Kanchipuram, also known as the City of Temples, this place is home to the divine Goddess Kamakshi- an incarnation of Parvati, the Hindu goddess of love, fertility and strength.Next visit Kailasanathar Temple.The Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.This important religious site is located on the banks of the Vedavathi River.From there go to Varadharaja Perumal Temple.It is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is a place of immense religious importance.After visiting these sites, go to Mamallapuram from Kanchipuram. The distance of Mamallapuram from Kanchipuram is 60 Km and it will take around one and half hours to reach Mamallapuram from Kanchipuram. Upon reaching Mamallapuram check in to your hotel.


  • Day-4 On day-4 go to local sightseeing tour around Mamallapuram. Main places to visit are: Shore Temple Built during the 7th century, Shore Temple is one of the oldest temples of South India constructed in the Dravidian style and depicts the royal taste of the Pallava dynasty. Thework of the temple has been listed amongst the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Mahabalipuram Beach The Mahabalipuram Beach is situated at a distanceof 58 km from the Chennai city in Tamil Nadu.The beach lies on the shore of Bay of Bengal.Here you can see some beautiful rock-cut sculptures.Five Rathas The Five Rathas, also known as Panch Rathas,is a exemplary set of rock temples.They are excellent examples of the evolution of Dravidian style architecture. Arjunas Penance The Arjunas Penance is an enormous rock-cutrelief, one of the largest in the whole world, situated in Mahabalipuram. In the evening go to Pondicherry from Mamallapuram by car via East Cost road.The distance is 95.5 Km and it will take around 2 hours to reach Pondicherry from Mamallapuram by car.


  • Day-5 On day-5, go for local sightseeing tour around Pondicherry. Main places are: Paradise Beach Paradise Beach is situated in Chunnambar, close to Pondicherry town.Adorned with the golden sand, this famous and highly sought after beach is always swaying in a cold sea breeze.In order to reach here, you have to take a ferry across the backwaters, which takes around 20-30 minutes. Auroville Ashram Conceived as the Universal Town, the Auroville Ashram is an experimental township.In the year 1926 Sri Aurobindo founded this city where people from across the world of all cultures and traditions come and live together in peace.Seaside Promenade The area is well maintained, clean and beautifuland here you can feel the freshness of sea. Pondicherry beach Pondicherry Beach or commonly known as the Promenade Beach- is a famous stretch of beachfront in the city.It stretches up to 1.2 kilometres along the Bay of Bengal and is the most popular stretch of road in Pondicherry. Serenity Beach This is probably the most beautiful beach in Pondicherry. This pristine beach attracts numerous tourists everyday due to its quiet environment.


  • Day-6 On Day 6, head back to Chennai for departure.Where to stay There are several hotels and resorts available in all the above places.A good quality mid level hotel will charge between Rs 2000 to 3500 per day.Total package will charge around 20000 per couple including hotel fare, food and transport.
